German city’s Sinfoniker says aim is not to replace humans but to play music

prone to temperamental outbursts against the musicians beneath her three batons.
Meet MAiRA Pro S, the next-generation robot conductor who made her debut this
weekend in Dresden.
Her two performances in the eastern German city are intended to show off the
latest advances in machine maestros, as well as music written explicitly to
harness 21st-century technology. The artistic director of Dresden’s Sinfoniker,
Markus Rindt, said the intention was “not to replace human beings” but to
perform complex music that human conductors would find impossible.

Satellite image analysis shows 329 hectares of forest cleared during development
of factory in Germany
The development of a Tesla gigafactory near Berlin has resulted in about 500,000
trees being felled, according to satellite analysis.
The building of the German factory has been highly controversial and attracted
significant protests, as well as prompting a debate about the trade-offs
involved in developing a green economy.

Artist Butterbro accused of walking fine line between parody and discrimination
and helping make racial slur mainstream
A song about immigrants whose music, vocals and artwork were entirely generated
using artificial intelligence has made the Top 50 most listened to songs in
Germany, in what may be a first for a leading music market.
Verknallt in einen Talahon is a parody song that weaves modern lyrics – many of
them based around racial stereotypes about immigrants – with 60s schlager pop.

Protesters opposed to expansion of the US electric vehicle maker Tesla's plant
in Grünheide near Berlin clashed with police as some of them attempted to storm
the facility. More than 800 people took part in the protest, according to the
organising group Disrupt Tesla, which claims the expansion would damage the
environment. Footage shows people wearing blue caps and masks coming from a
nearby wooded area and attempting to storm the company's premises with police
officers trying to prevent them
